Scrapbooking Saturdays

During lockdown and since I have managed quite a bit of scrapbooking so I'm going to share these on Saturdays in no particular order.

I started out with lots of pocket pages and these were for my Vegas Album

This was a night at the Fremont Experience in Downtown Las Vegas.  A five-block pedestrian covered mall with kiosks, carts, zip-line, live music and a nightly light-and-sound show.

Crafting life continues

Just before the start of Quarantine in 2020 I had got back into card making with some Galentines cards (valentines for the supportive gals in your life) and had taken a bag making lesson with a friend.

My friend Elizabeth is a talented sewer/sewist and with her help and advice I made this double sided bag in just a couple of hours.

We had also visited the craft show at the SECC me armed with a with a "what not to buy" list.

The numbers were down at the craft show as covid was just starting. There were about 140 cases in Scotland but a lot of the older and more vulnerable attendees had stayed away.

Ironically it meant we had a great day, my friend took in a class and we had plenty of time to browse and buy and chat instead of the normal mad dash to be out of there by lunchtime.

Had we known that lockdown was coming our purchasing ideas may have been very different.

Crafting life

I started crafting again about 2019 after I changed jobs and life settled down.

The Quarantine times in 2020/2021 helped give me much more time and organise my craft space.
It also helped me declutter and decide what I wanted to focus on craftwise.

I'm going to be sharing a bit more often (i've said that before).
To start here is what my craft room looked like before lockdown.

It looked very neat and there were lots of drawers and boxes to store things but as things were in boxes I couldn't see them  and so I would forget I had them and not use them.

I tried some open storage on hangers and rods so I could see what I had but it quickly became untidy and clunky.

I could see the stuff but had no inspiration to use it.

This storage for my punches seemed to work well and it was great being able to see them all together adn see what worked with what, but in reality took up a whole lot of wall space and didn't work for the new design of punches.

I was doing more work storing my supplies than using them.

Something had to change.

Christmas 2016

I couldn't sleep the other night so after two hours off tossing and turning I got up and made Christmas bunting.

I have had these 3 fat quarters of fabric for years but did nothing with them till now. Cut out with my Big Shot,, eyeletted with my cropodile and tied together with yards of mixed Christmas yarn. Got around to hanging it up on the way to bed last night.

I scrapped!!

Its been a while since I did any scrapbooking. I keep meaning to get started and I read lots of blogs and forums and look at lots of ideas and then think - I'll do it later.

Well at last later caught up with me. I'd seen a sketch on Shimelles blog and immediately thought of one of the photos I'd bought on my recent trip to Las Vegas so here is my oversized picture layout of my trip to the Shark Reef Aquarium at the Mandalay Bay.
I dipped into my Stampin' Up! stash of cardstock, designer paper mixing in a bit of pink with the blues to match my top and the coral. I used our new exclusive Top Note and Fun Flowers Dies for the Bigshot and with our embossing folders to add some texture. Then I had great fun making my Shark lettering with chipboard letters, various shades of blue inks, crystal effects and lots of time and patience :) Crystal Effects advises 30-60 mins to dry if using a thick layer but don't believe it. I always leave mine overnight. Just to be sure :)

I'm please with the final result and glad to be back scrapping. Hopefully more holiday layouts to follow soon.

Let me know what you've scrapped recently or what you find keeps you from scrapping.

I've taken up running and after 3 weeks also got some of my scrapbooking mojo back so here is my running layout featuring my new shoes and a kit I got from QVC about 5 years ago.

Scrapping Time :)

On Friday afternoon while chatting on Facebook with my friend Kat I discovered there was to be another UKScrappers Cybercrop this weekend. Its been ages since I've done any scrapbooking, my craft desk looked like a bomb site and I was still unpacking from my holidays so of course I headed right over and signed up. :)

I didn't try every class or challenge but have picked up several ideas for future layouts when I get round to printing out my holiday pics.

In the meantime one of the layouts I completed was all Stampin' Up! and I last got to grips with covering chipboard with patterned paper.

So this is me on our first Formal Night of the Cruise last year using Patterned paper from Love Stories Simply Scrappin' kit and Tea & Crumpets DP, Chocolate Chip and Not Quite Navy card stock, Chipboard Flower and leaves from On Board Batch of Blooms.

If you're interested in ordering any of these supplies or want to more about scrapbooking or Stampin' Up! please feel free to email me at jantyscrafts@btinternet.com
