Day off work today so decided to have some fun with my Stampin' Up! supplies.

I'd seen this effect on cards before and had thought it must be white embossing powder on coloured card but actually its a brayer and embossing folder technique (Thanks to Monica for the instructions) on whisper white. I love how crisp the Elegant Bouquet looks in white against the perfect plum.

I added a Sentiment from the Something to Celebrate Hostess set on to a die cut tag edged with perfect plum and finished off with a bit of ribbon for a touch of texture.

I don't have any perfect plum designer paper at the moment (terrible oversight I know) so I used some of my stash of retired designer series paper to make a non-matching gift bag :) (thanks to the instructions on Angela's blog) to hold some Stampin' Up! goodies for my friend Margaret's birthday. This time the sentiment is from the Afterthoughts Hostess set stamped onto a decorative label punch out layered onto a sizzix circle and a eyelet border punched strap.

More Punch Art

Well after the success of Daniel's lion and Moses in his basket I've been searching for more punch art for other stories.

Staying with Moses for this week he was looking after his father-in-laws sheep when he had the encounter with the burning bush.

There are loads of very cute punch art sheep online but I took inspiration for my sheep from Retiree's gallery at splitcoast stampers with the addition of some wiggley eyes. I couldn't find a punch art burning bush in my searches but Jackies Campfire gave me the idea to use the 2 step bird punch for flames and the punch has a branch with leaves already so used that for the bush. I kept it simple with just two colours of card for the flames rather than sponging to make it easier (and less messy) for kids.

I'm really enjoying working out punch art characters for my Sunday School class and the Stampin' Up! punches are really easy and safe for the kids to use with some supervision.

Punch Art!

I love our Stampin' Up! punches. They're the main reason I became a demonstrator back in 2009 I'd seen a tutorial on you tube just simply using the scalloped circle and a range of smaller circles and that was it I was hooked. I love how they coordinate with our stamps and how they're sized to layer and work with each other.

But now I also love how versatile they can be. I was looking for a new Sunday School idea last week as we had visiting children who were all very young so wouldn't be able to do our normal quizzes, word searches and crosswords. I wanted something crafty but simple and preferably that I could make from what I already had. Quick trip round google later and I'd found several punch-art lions to go with the Story of Daniel in the Lions Den.

This week the kids are still here so I'm going with Moses in the bullrushes using an idea from Michele Reynolds

I'm now officially hooked on punch-art and the other shapes you can find or make from just a few punches. All right I now have way more than a few. Lookout for more punch art in the future.

I scrapped!!

Its been a while since I did any scrapbooking. I keep meaning to get started and I read lots of blogs and forums and look at lots of ideas and then think - I'll do it later.

Well at last later caught up with me. I'd seen a sketch on Shimelles blog and immediately thought of one of the photos I'd bought on my recent trip to Las Vegas so here is my oversized picture layout of my trip to the Shark Reef Aquarium at the Mandalay Bay.

I dipped into my Stampin' Up! stash of cardstock, designer paper mixing in a bit of pink with the blues to match my top and the coral. I used our new exclusive Top Note and Fun Flowers Dies for the Bigshot and with our embossing folders to add some texture. Then I had great fun making my Shark lettering with chipboard letters, various shades of blue inks, crystal effects and lots of time and patience :) Crystal Effects advises 30-60 mins to dry if using a thick layer but don't believe it. I always leave mine overnight. Just to be sure :)

I'm please with the final result and glad to be back scrapping. Hopefully more holiday layouts to follow soon.

Mini Catalogue 2011

It's Mini time again!!

This years mini catalogue has been eagerly awaited as this year we get the Bigshot! and there's a whole load of dies, sizzlets, and embossing folders that are exclusive to Stampin' Up!

I found a video tutorial on YouTube for using the Circles 2 die and heat tool to make flowers

Die cut four of each circle from sheer man made fabric, layer up, punch hole in centre, secure with brad and use scissors or pincers to hold brad while heating fabric with heat gun, stop when you like the effect.
Remember to let it cool before touching the brad!

I'm also working on a class showing different card folds so thought I would try a 'Step Fold' style card, think I may have got a bit carried away with the butterflies.

There also some lovely Stamp Sets, Punches, Buttons and Ribbons for us to play with and as usual it complements whats already available in the main Idea Book and Catalogue.

Playing with leftovers and new supplies

After making all my baby tees cards I had lots of strips of certainly celery cardstock left from punching the scalloped borders.

Being a frugal crafter (some of the time) I was sure there was something I could do with them and having a play tonight made a woven effect background.

It was a bit fiddly and time consuming to keep it together but with the help of some sticky strip I got there.

My 2nd parcel of bits from the new catalogue also arrived yesterday so using a colour combination from the new Colour Coach - I started with my Certainly Celery woven background and I added -

Some Pink Pirouette cardstock punched with the Bird two step punch stamped with the medallion from the New Artistic Etchings set in Soft Suede Ink. I got this set in clear mount and it makes it really easy to see where you want to stamp your image.

I punched the wing and branch out of double sided design paper from the Love Stories Simply Scrappin kit as it had both the green and pink colours I wanted.

I layered the bird onto the woven patch and secured it with sticky strip onto Crumb Cake

carstock stamped with the Friendly background stamp in wild wasabi and then added Thanks from the Thank You Kindly set. The card and bird were also edged in Soft Suede.

I really like the look of this card so look out for more colour combinations from my colour coach in the future.

Have a Contempo Christmas

Contempo Christmas was the clear mount stamp set I got free for attending our regional training session in September, one of the many perks of being a Stampin' Up! Demonstrator.

The card was our make and take for the day using a selection of our new products.

The bauble stamp was stamped four times in one of our new colours Cherry Cobbler and then punched out with the matching ornament punch.

Three of the bauble shapes were used to make the 3D ornament then placed onto torn Cherry Cobbler cardstock layered onto torn Whisper White and then onto the Early Expresso base card.

The sentiment is also from the same set and was stamped in our craft White ink that shows up great on dark cardstock.

The finishing touch was the new Organza Ribbon in whisper white that I really love.

New Product Parade

The first of the new products I want to share with you is this gorgeous Stampin' Around Jumbo Wheel. Baby Tees.

This is a row of five baby outfits that is going to look great in loads of colours but I thought I'd start simply with Bashful Blue and Pretty in Pink for a really quick couple of cards. Mixed it up with a little Certainly Celery and stamped the sentiments in two of our new colours Melon Mamo and Marina Mist. I really love how the Stampin' Up! colours tone in with each other both the lighter and darker shades.

On Friday afternoon while chatting on Facebook with my friend Kat I discovered there was to be another UKScrappers Cybercrop this weekend. Its been ages since I've done any scrapbooking, my craft desk looked like a bomb site and I was still unpacking from my holidays so of course I headed right over and signed up. :)

I didn't try every class or challenge but have picked up several ideas for future layouts when I get round to printing out my holiday pics.

In the meantime one of the layouts I completed was all Stampin' Up! and I last got to grips with covering chipboard with patterned paper.

So this is me on our first Formal Night of the Cruise last year using Patterned paper from Love Stories Simply Scrappin' kit and Tea & Crumpets DP, Chocolate Chip and Not Quite Navy card stock, Chipboard Flower and leaves from On Board Batch of Blooms.

Christmas Cards

It's Christmas Card time again and this year I'm actually organised.

I have a pile of cards left from an Anna Griffin Kit last year to give to friends at church.

I found a small box of cards I bought in Woolies closing down sale last year in amongst my decorations to give the girls at work.

I found a some ideas through Splitcoaststampers that used half a SU scrapping kit to make a great selection of cards so I've used the Christmas Jingle kit with the Tree Trimming Stamp set from Stampin' Up! to make some family cards.

I've used the Winter Post stamp set and a new technique I found on youtube to make a spinner card for a fellow card maker.

I've still to make a reindeer mobile/card for my brother and sister-in-law. cos its fun :)

And for my Mum & Peter and Dad & Katy I'll be trying a Tri-Shutter card. Will let you know how it goes.

Started my cruise scrapbook!!!!

Ok I know I came back from holiday two months ago but its taken me this long to get started :)

I saw a challenge on UKScrappers and decided to get off my behind and do it! So here is my first layout for my Cruise Scrapbook.

This is me on the Helipad just out side my window on the Celebrity Summit.

I used the Petal Party kit from Stampin' Up! and extra sticker from a set I got onboard and the announcement from the ships daily paper that hasn't scanned very well. I also used a journal block from the Christmas Jingle set that I had left over from making cards and just put punches over the snowflakes. (I'll show you the cards later :D )

Oh My, its here, the new Stampin' Up! catalogue and idea book and my wish list is getting longer every day :)

So we didnt get everything we hoped for but we did get new stamps, new white craft ink, new storage, new papers, new tools, new ribbons, new embelishments and lots of new ideas. Can you tell I like the new stuff :)

I'm already playing with some of the new stamp sets and will post some piccys soon.

Card Making

I had a play about on Friday with some stamp sets and other bits and came up with two very different cards.
The first is pink and all fun for my mums birthday using a free stamp from Feb's Craft Stamper, some pink and red ink, white and black card and a little piece of pink fiber.

The second is monochome and elegant for a thank you card to give my mum at the end of our cruise. I've used Stampin' Up! stamps baroque motifs and oval all and the scalloped oval punch with some chiffon and satin ribbon that I already had.

Having a couple of weeks off see you in September with news of the new Stampin' Up catalogue due in October!

Brayer techniques

I had a play with my Stampin' Up! brayer and versamark inks tonight using a video tutorial from thepinkstamper

I stamped elements from the One of a Kind stamp set in versamark ink on glossy card then brayered various colours over the top and used the scalloped edge on the bottom

I made some matching gloss card using the brayer with plain gloss card and with versamark stamped background stamp and then punched scallop circle and layered tags from these, stamping the one of a kind sentiment on the smaller tag.

The dragonfly from Organic Grace set was stamped on whisper white, coloured in with distress ink and pixie pink then punched out with 1 3/8 circle and layered on the pink scalloped circle.

The White grosgrain ribbon was coloured with pixie pink ink again to match and the the green glitter card was an off cut from my scraps bin. All adhered to a pixie pink base card.

Inks used - Stampin' Up! Green Galore, Brilliant Blue, Pixie Pink, and a spiced marmalade orange distress ink from Tim Holtz.

Stamp sets used - One of a kind, Organic Grace.

Had a play with the soft summer double stamping set from the mini catalogue today to make a birthday card for a lady at church. I used old olive and rose red inks, garden green, pumkin pie and close to cocoa card stock, rose red design paper and the oval punches and matching stamps.

I didnt have any pumpkin pie ribbon so coloured some white ribbon with the pumpkin pie stamin spot.

Well, so much for once a week :) where did June go . I must try harder as my school reports used to say!

For July I'm launching a couple of new clubs that both include ways to build up your stamp and tools collection with out breaking the bank.

Firstly the Marker Share

The Marker share is a great way to get all 48 Stampin' Write Markers from Stampin' Up! and the storage caddy but split the cost into affordable payments over 4 months - £26.20 each per month (including postage)

The Stampin Write markers come in a fabulous range of 48 colours covering all 4 colour families in the Stampin' Up! range.

They contain the same inks as the ink pads.
They can be refilled with the reinkers.
They match the cardstock and designer paper perfectly to help co-ordination
They have a broad tip for inking and a fine tip for journalling.

Secondly the Stampers 6

The Stampers 6 is a really good way to build up your collection of Stampin' Up! goodies with out actually having a workshop.

All you need to do is agree to place an order of £25 or more per month for six months. During these six months you will become a virtual hostess for one month. You will then earn hostess benefits starting at £150 in sales. So when each of the six perople place their order for £25 or more you will not only get to choose a hostess gift set but also £15 in FREE merchandise. The amount of free merchandise goes up if the total virtual workshop amount goes up.

Just think... you can earn hostess benefits just by spending £25 a month. That's approximately £6.25 per week.

I've been really bad about updating my blog recently and so I'm going to make a real effort to post at least weekly from now on :)

I signed up with Stampin' Up! originally to get the discount on the punches I wanted after seeing the scallop punch in use on youtube. Since then I've discovered I love the rest of their products as well and I've still not finished buying up my wish list.

I'm quite excited as we have our first Mini Catalogue!!

I got my preordered items from the Stampin' Up! Mini just in time to make my mum a mothers day card.

I used one of the stamps from the Greetings Eight set using markers to colour the flowers and chocolate chip for the text on whisper white, layered on chocolate chip and pink passion with part of the sentiment stamped on a pretty in pink oval layered on a green galore scalloped oval.

Have I mentioned I love Stampin' Up! punches :)

The Papers, cardstock and booklets were right on the top

and then under the packaging all the rest really well packed.

Ok My starter kit arrived ages ago and I was so excited I didnt take a photo of me ransacking the box. :)

So apart from drooling over my new stamps and re working my wish list every time I see another sample I've been working on some cards and even used the stamps in a layout at the weekend.

Ok, so I never was very patient but waiting for my Stampin' Up! starter kit has me pacing the floor therefore to keep me occupied I decided I should post some of the crafts I've worked on upto Christmas.

I found inspiration for my hand made christmas pressies in the Gallery of the inlovewithstamping.com forum and a link to the pattern and tutorial here on danniesdesigns blog. I loved these and made 7 in total.

I was also busy finishing 150 wedding invites for my brothers wedding in March and this weekend did the thank you cards so they can send them as soon as gifts come in.

Off to browse the Stampin' Up! catalogue again to work on my wish list. :)
